Clever cat makes homeless boy a fortune.
Alice offers poor, homeless Northern lad, Dick, a room in her rich father’s house but it’s overrun by rats and mice. Dick buys the cleverest cat in the world to solve his problem. It is so successful that Alice’s father takes the cat with him to sea. He thinks it could earn Dick a fortune. Dick’s room is overrun by rats and mice again. He has also fallen in love with the lovely Alice but doesn’t think he could ever marry her because he’s too poor. Dick leaves London in despair but the bells ring out his name and Dick returns to be Mayor, marry Alice and be with his cat again.
